Not to mention that the JB weld will probably throw it out of balance. It would be interesting to experiment, though.

I checked on the Zuma and it's sold. That is one of the more popular models around here so I should have more chances at one. I see lots of mid to late 2000 models selling for $800-900 so with a little haggling and patience I could probably score one for a decent price.

Actually it's a 2000, is "hard starting but runs ok" and has 8500 miles on it. I'm sure it's teenager owned because it's in a college town with an out of town area code. I might shoot them a message and see what they have to say.

this is actually a good time to buy a scooter. Look for a bike with a "1e40qmb" motor, real easy to find parts for. Alot of Chinese scooters had this motor. You can find em on Craigslist pretty often for $100-300 and usually just need maintenance and carb cleaning. Tng, vento, and keeway are 3 scooter brands known to use these motors. Also most 2 stroke Yamahas like Vino's zumas and jogs have a version of this motor but Yamaha bikes are usually more expensive That's what I keep telling my friend but he's not listening!! I'm still cruising Craigslist daily looking for something inexpensive that grabs my attention, but so far I haven't found anything that's gotten me excited. There is a 2001 Zuma that's $550, but it's far away, has no pictures, and has quite a few miles on it, there's the Rattler I mentioned before, but again, no pics, it's far away, and quite obvious that a kid owns it, and a 99 Kymco 2 stroke for $425, but it's almost 5 hours away. There are cheaper machines out there (all 4 stroke so far) but they never have titles. It seems like almost half of the machines for sale don't have titles which is a problem in my state. I could start a small junkyard if I went around snatching up all of the "no title for parts only" machines I see.

Simply stunning. I love the color too.

I still don't really know what to do at this point. A lot of it depends on what my friend ends up buying for a scooter. The riding season is done here so I have until the end of April to decide which way I'm going to go. Right now I'm leaning towards selling mine for whatever I can get for it and buying a two stroke.

I guess we can rule out excessive back pressure! Lol So you're back to no spark? I know you're not getting any voltage, but I would be curious to know what the resistance reads on your trigger and the one that originally came on your replacement stator that was bad from the factory.

Is the plug wet when it dies? Have you tried running it without the exhaust?

Has it been modified at all?
Has it run ok with the new Keihin carb?

I feel for you. I wish I was closer because sometimes it just takes a second set of eyes to figure something out. So let's start over with this thing and get back to the basics. What happened to it before you started wrenching on it, what have you done, and where does it stand as of now?
There are so many threads about it I have no idea where to start. Let's keep this one going until you have a running scoot.

What happens if you drop the idle down to around 1500 RPM? Does it still hang? Yes, hangs no matter the idle rpm Time to spray it for air leaks.

Usually when the idle hangs like that, it's because the idle is set too high yet or you have an air leak. Do you have enough slack in your throttle cable so the idle screw is actually allowing the slide to drop further when you adjust it?

Any 12 volt battery will work fine. Make sure you measure the plunger length before you apply power.

Upon further inspection, it really isn't a two stroke because I can see the dipstick. The guy put a two stroke performance pipe on a four stroke! Check it out: appleton.craigslist.org/mcy/d/150-cc-scooter/6333540332.htmlThere's also a Genuine Rattler in the same area for $400, but after reading how odd of a machine it is, I think I would be better off staying with something more common in the long run. The Genuine Roughhouse looks like it would be right up my alley, except for the price.
