I have a Keihin PD19J on my scooter; will a PZ18 rebuild kit work in that carburetor? The parts look correct, but I don't want to buy it only to find out the components are completely different. I only see two PD19J kits on ebay- one that's $20 and one that's $7.50, but ships from China. However, there's a bunch of inexpensive PZ18 kits on there. Many of the scooter websites just list a "139QMB repair kit" and mention nothing about the carburetors they fit. The three components I'd like to use from it are the inlet needle, the air/fuel screw, and possibly the jet needle. Thanks.

Hi, In my opinion you may be creating another problem by adding the oil cooler. The reason being is the oil cooler will have to be full of oil always and if it is higher than the engine’s own oil level how do you manage with that? The problem I’m seeing is when you un cap the engine’s oil reservoir, oil will come gushing out all over the place. So, how could you check the oil level, how do you control the back flow? I see problems without answers but maybe someone else knows a lot more about this? Good luck, Greg Usually the oil cooler is mounted so the inlet and outlet are mounted up, which doesn't allow the oil to drain back very much, if at all, when the engine is shut off. There are lots of air cooled ATVs that use an oil cooler similar to what he's linked. The downside to this is that you always have old oil trapped in them when you do an oil change. I would think in a climate like Iraq, any added cooling would make a huge difference in engine longevity.

Thanks. I was most curious about the camshaft since the Glixal A9 is out of stock everywhere I've looked. I <think> I found another A9 camshaft but it's just labeled as "performance". I might just wait to buy all my BBK stuff in spring since the riding season is pretty much over here.

I've run across these in my search for parts and I don't see why this wouldn't work. The biggest thing is figuring out how and where to mount the radiator. You don't need another oil pump as it uses the engine's oil pump. It might not be a bad idea to look into getting a higher flow pump, though. I'm not sure how similar this engine is to the generic GY6 engines. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to pull your oil drain and measure it to see if it's the same diameter as the generics.
Anyone else care to chime in?

Thanks guys. The antenna idea is great! Unfortunately I don't have an antenna laying around, but I might have something else that will work. I found the tool I used to have for $16, which isn't bad. On the other hand, I can order a rebuild kit for $8.50 and not have to worry about having a special tool to adjust the fuel screw and then I'll have an adjustable jet needle. That's the route I'm going!

Don't forget springs. Without them you just have a limp thing hanging down getting in the way. I wouldn't want that! LOL. I figured I would need one, or some, but I'm not exactly sure which one to get. Most sites have a listing for a few different ones and don't list lengths or specs. I see the bulk of them are single springs, but a couple have what appear to be two springs together; a heavier one with a lighter one inside. Is the lighter one designed to pull on a safety switch or is it for something else?

Thanks Mike. I think I partially answered my question by looking at lots of pics on Google. Here is a pic of the stand it came with: And I think the stand I linked to isn't going to work going by the measurements in the picture. My inside spacing is about 4 1/8" and the outside is about 6". I don't think the outside dimension is as important as the inside, though. I don't really want to do any fabricating, but I probably could if I had to.

My scooter is missing the center kickstand, which is kind of a pain when it comes to working on it. I found a replacement at Chinese Parts Pro, but I'm not sure what else is missing, or what a complete one looks like. I would assume it needs a spring and a couple bolts to bolt it to the bottom of the engine, but what else? Can anyone take a pic of theirs to show me what it's supposed to look like? This is the one I'm looking at. Thanks.

I unsealed my carb this week so I could tweak my air/fuel screw and found that my Keihin carb uses a d slot head. Does anyone know what size it is and where the best place is to source one from? I had a few different sizes at my old work so I know they aren't all the same size. I had a super handy one that was short and had a knurled knob on the end to adjust some ATV carbs but it wasn't very cheap.

Hey all, After lusting for a scooter for the past 18 years, I finally picked up a well used 2015 Propel 50cc to tinker with last week. I've learned a lot from reading this forum and website, as well as watching the YouTube videos, which are great! I was a powersports mechanic for the last 16 years so the grease monkey in me can't wait to tear into my new toy and see what I can do with it. I love how cheap and plentiful the parts are for these things. Who would of thought you could buy a big bore kit for under $30? So far I've cleaned and unsealed my carburetor, installed new yellow springs, cleaned and greased the clutches, and replaced my spark plug. My future plans are to install a 72cc kit, install a cam, jet the carb, fine tune the variator, and possibly install a new exhaust. Hopefully I can get my friend to pick up a scooter too so I don't have to ride alone. Nothing like two grown men with motorcycle licenses driving scooters around! LOL
