I got my jets in today from the Chinese supplier and they are too small for my PD19J carb, but look like they would probably work fine for the OP's carb. It's my fault though, I didn't measure the threads before I ordered and just assumed they would work in my carb. Oh well! If anyone needs some of the small style pilot jets PM me!

I got my Chinese Parts Pro 47mm BBK today that I got at a discount from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Since it was presumably a returned item, I did a thorough inspection of it and found this, which most likely was the reason it was returned. This is one quality kit!

Fitted a new plug & it started straight up. May start cleaning my plugs every few weeks. Or start using a hotter plug, from 9 to 8 for an example. I would recommend fixing whatever issue is causing the plugs to foul instead of going to a hotter plug. It might be worth while to take another look at your jetting.

I don't think that stuff would work for this. Don't know if you don't try I guess, but the frost is thick. Had to scrape it off with my fingernails. It would have to completely repel moisture to work. I know that other anti-fog solutions have done very little for me. It freezes so fast because the wind chill at ~60MPH is -15 to -20. The breath shield or whatever it's called (goes sorta over your nose in the helmet) may make more difference than those. Check your gloves for a small rubber piece near the end of the thumb or pointer finger. It's a squeegee for your shield! Most snowmobiling gloves have them and I would think true cold weather motorcycle gloves would too.

The paste works better than the spray, at least for snowmobiling, but neither worked very well for me. I used to work at a snowmobile dealership and literally sold 100s of helmets. I've found that the main factors that come into play to prevent fogging are: ventilation, moisture (breath, sweat, or atmosphere), and helmet fit/breath box fit. If you're using a single pane shield, the fogging is going to be worse than a dual pane, but the durability isn't nearly as good. I tired many many things to keep my helmets from fogging, and until I found a helmet that really sealed off the moisture from the lens area, and then added a heated shield, nothing really kept it from fogging up, unless conditions were perfect, or I kept the shield cracked about 1/4". The bottom line is that a heated shield is really the only solution to keep you from icing or fogging up in the cold.

I'm going to start with a BBK and decide if I'm going to keep my current scooter or go on to something else.

Went for a ride with the temp around 10F this morning. Ended up only being about a 40 minute ride because I couldn't see. The moisture from my breath was getting on the inside of the visor and freezing pretty much immediately. Tried to stop and clear it off and it was back in minutes. I warmed the TMAX up to operating temp before I left and the needle bottomed out on cold while riding. Time to think about a heated shield!

First thing I would do is check for spark while it's cranking with the battery. For this, I would get a second spark plug and leave your original in the head so it's cranking under compression. Then do the same thing kick starting it.

Thanks, guys. The 150 has sold and since neither of the other two are anything special for the money, I'm going to hold on to what I have for now.

I've got a jet kit but they're generic chinese ones, as well as a screw in the bowl being stripped out, so I haven't messed with it yet. The CVT seems to like 4.5-5g better because I tried 6g rollers and it dropped down to around 33mph from 35 at the time. I see carbs with stripped out bowl screw heads all the time. A secret I learned is to take a phillips screwdriver, put it in the screw, and then tap on the handle a few times with a hammer and they usually come out. If the head is stripped, I take a punch or equivalent (like a 3/8" extension) and put it on the head of the screw and hit it with a hammer a few times to mush the head down a bit. Then take a phillips screwdriver, line up the slots, and hit it a few times to make new slots. Give it a turn and they usually pop right out. The biggest thing is that you use a good screwdriver with a really good tip and is the correct tip size.

That stuff is super popular in the motorsports world. Most of the time the OEMs use the Three Bond version of it and it works well and flows out nicely.

Right now there's a few scooters in my "area" that are fairly interesting and I'm looking for some input on if I should pursue any of these.
I just ordered a 47mm kit for my 139qmb Propel, but it hasn't shipped yet and I can cancel the order.
If you haven't read this thread, the summary is: I bought my current scooter on a whim, and found out it might not be fast enough for my needs. I'd like one that I can cruise at 45 mph and I weigh roughly 235 pounds and am 6'4". This is only a play toy and I won't be using it for commuting.
The poll consensus is that I should get a 150cc+ scoot, but I also like the idea of taking a slow machine and tinkering with it to make it faster. What I don't want is something unreliable, and I also don't want a race build two stroke that only makes power at 10k+. After reading many many threads, that leaves me with the impression that I should look for a 150cc scooter, a 50cc 2T that will accept a 90cc top end, or build a 139QMB with upgraded parts including crank.
The three that are available right now are a:
2001 CPI Hussar. This is a 2T with what I believe an engine that will take a 90cc top end. If I remember correctly, this engine has large ends on the crank but a 10mm pin. There's really not a lot of info on this scooter, and it seems kind of rare in the US, but common in Europe. This scooter looks to be in really nice shape but has been sitting for a number of years. They want $600 which seems a bit much too me, especially given the mods I'd like to do. The nice thing is that this scooter is very close to where I live and only has 1200 miles.
The next one is a 2006 ACE sports Arrow 150 for $300 obo. It needs a throttle cable, the speedo doesn't work, and some other minor problems. It looks to be in ok condition, but I would need to find out more about it before I go look at it. It has about 4k miles on it. It's also about 3 hours away.
The final one is a 2007 TGB R5 Laser. This one is also about 3 hours away. This one is a bit of a wild card. It currently doesn't run, the starter doesn't work, and judging by the picture, the throttle cable isn't right. I can tell a kid owns this, so it might be beat up. I don't know the real condition on it yet; I need to contact the owner and get more pictures if it's worth it. The asking price is only $150.
I don't need to buy any of these; they just seemed like they could be an interesting option. I also have the luxury to wait as long as I need to and jump on something special when it comes on the market. I just don't know what that something special might be.
I'm also curious what my current scooter will be like once I put the BBK on it. Unfortunately, I won't know for another 4 or so months until the weather warms up and I can install the BBK and ride it. I have minimal money into this machine so I don't mind putting a few bucks into it.

I pulled my valve cover to see what size valves I have. 69mm!

I gifted myself a complete 47mm BBK from Amazon Warehouse that was $31. It'll be fun playing around with that even if I decide to go another route with a different scooter.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I too like the beach pics. Sadly, the only sand I'm going to see for the next 4 or 5 months is the stuff they dump on the roads. The only thing I can show a picture of a scooter with it's tire buried in the snow.
