I had the wiring roughed in just enough to know what wires were going and which were staying when the parts came to finish the BBK, so I left a rats nest while I did the break in. Got that wrapped up tonight, the back wiring is done until I can get a saddle on it, the tub is blocking where I wanted to run things.

Since this isn't the frame for the winter project, and still has the bent triple tree issue, I'm going to call this project done for now and enjoy the ride while the season lasts and anxiously await the 1st of the month when my toy budget is replenished and I can go pick up the next project, armed with lessons learned...

Flag is a legal requirement in the state of Iowa since it's registered as a moped. I'd tear it off in a heartbeat if I could.

Great looking naked scoot build! No way as if you have to have a flag that's a weird law, saying that in the UK you have to do a CBT test to ride up to a 125cc even if you have a driving licence and have to have L plates on front and back and cant go on motorways, then have to do a theory test and two more tests to ride any bike (as long as your 24 years old)

Iowa is a funny state, we prosecute dying human beings for using cannabis and let drunk drivers go with a slap on the hand.
We don't have a displacement classification anymore, anything 40MPH or less can be licensed as a scooter and operated without special endorsement or DL by any licensed driver over the age of 18. If you're a minor, or don't have an adult DL, you need a permit.
In order to be operated at all on public roads, you have to be able to maintain 25MPH on a 3% grade.
On the other hand, I get caught going over 39MPH on flat ground, I can get nailed for unlawful registration, no motorcycle license etc and my vehicle impounded on the spot.
In order to have a motorcycle, you need to have a motorcycle license, that involves a written and skills test, but it's pretty basic, and they allow you to take the riding test on any registered motorcycle, so we have people renting 125CC scooters to take the test and then going out and buying a street glide.

as if your not allowed over 40mph that sucks I thought the U.S. were really relaxed with motorbikes, didn't know there were different laws for different states when it came to driving. surprised you can do your test on a 125 scooter lol, going from one of them to a super bike would be lethal!!!!

I got my M license on a 150 in MD. I actually rode the 150 for a bit after though. 2 friends used it as well to get theirs. Both already owned 600-1000cc supersports, but the test is so much easier on the scoot. They used to deduct points for having an automatic transmission on the test, but they don't even do that anymore. One section used to require you to accelerate and shift into 2nd gear before a quick stop. Now they just require you to reach a certain speed before the stop.

Iowa is starting to change a bit, the law enforcement community whined and threw a tantrum when they raised the speed limit to 70 on the interstate, swore they'd start writing tickets for even a mile over. First one they wrote for 5 over got tossed because the manufacturer of the radar gun refused to testify in court that their equipment was accurate enough to say for certain he was actually five over. Pretty funny.
I had a circus one day over tinted windows, seatbelts and air rifles...

Cool build. That flag law would annoy me. I'm sorry you have to go through that.
