This is a $300 plus leather Mustang solo seat with a removable seat back for a Harley Davidson. I has to mounting tabs, front and rear, essentially designed to sit on the frame on bumpers and bolted to the spine on either end. The frame on the scooter I pick up tomorrow might be a better fit, we'll see, but I've considered replacing the gas tank with a cylinder of sorts, which would let me put the seat in a better position at least than the stock seat gives me. Not exactly the seat I wanted, but it was a gift, so I'm compelled to use it on rat Bob or the next project. One thing is for sure, it's comfortable as hell.

Well it rained all day and I'm on hold waiting for parts, so I decided go ahead and get rid of the rest of the old brackets and start getting ready for the new battery box/floor board, the clamp on foot rest is temporary. it will be welded ultimately with the floor board ramping up to them to form dead pedals. It's actually quite comfortable, and when I get about 3 more inches with the bobber seat conversion it will be just about perfect. The bracket on the left side is what put the hole in my leg, so I took a bit of pleasure grinding it off. I'll get everything nice and smooth over winter when I tear it all apart again.

So I got the solo seat for my other project, actually got the last one in stock, was so impressed with it I got on Amazon to see if they had a slightly larger one for Rat Bob and boom, one left, 16" polished 1/8th stainless steel, for $5 bucks less than I paid for the other one, should be here Friday ")

Got the spring bracket roughed in, once it's finished and painted it should look good enough, 1.25 X .125 steel, 3" barrel springs. Ran out of time and material so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get started on the front bracket

So after about 20 miles of riding, bare pan even, I found it surprisingly comfortable, albeit a bit high, needs to come down about 2" at which point back and inch or two to reclaim the leg room would probably be good. That will require the gas tank be replaced and relocated at which point, we put that on the winter list and enjoy the ride for now. Added a cross brace to the front bracket to stiffen up everything and it will also be part of the bracket holding the battery box. I found a heavy duty plastic army surplus box the perfect size, gasket sealed lid, should work great and fit in there nicely.

I like it. It's easy to service the engine. Where do you place your electrics? Also, should there be spring in the front?

Going to mount a box for the battery and electrics under the seat above the engine, right now they're under the floor pan.
Solo seats are typically sprung in the rear and a pivoting atatchment up front. I have mine on a rubber bushing.

I had been looking for a retro style cluster, but didn;t want to spend $50 on something I new wouldn't be accurate and probably not stellar quality considering the level of bikes that come with them factory, pretty much a shiny cosmetic accessory, but it's a detail that makes a big difference in the overall look and it does have some lights to look at ") I actually ordered two, needed one for my other scooter project, and as I found out the other day, Iowa DOT freaks out if you don't have a speedometer even though there's no law...
