The doctor didn't seem concerned about the splinter. Said it shouldn't require any action. Of course they'll know more when they do xrays again in a week.
The scoot really isn't in bad enough shape for me to wanna write it off. The steering stem is the worst part and it's not all that pricey. The whole seat assembly is the worst part money wise. Actually, my riding gear is the worst, other than doctors bills. The jacket was $80 because I got really lucky and found it on clearance, but it would cost $3-400 normally. $20-30 for the gloves. $20 for jeans. The helmet was nearly new and I've been careful to keep it in good shape till now cause it was $200 and normally I get baseline stuff for half that.

Sorry to hear about your accident Brent. I would have been so mad somebody would have had to stop me from at least attempting to kill the driver. Its way to late to say "next time" but honestly man you have some of the worst luck of anyone I know.
Not to mention your ugly as sin to boot! LOL j/k heal soon.

One woman said she was surprised to see the helmet be pulled off instead of ripped off and thrown. I told her I'm not that angry, I'm usually pretty calm. Honestly, I would have probably cried if I had hit someone with my hand broken already. lol Had I been in better shape and not in a bit of shock, I probably would have called the guy a stupid #$%^ though.
Now you know why you'll never catch me in a casino and I never buy lottery tickets.
On the bright side, granny did get out of the hospital today.

Glad your grandmother is doing better . How your hand feeling? I see your still typing, still one handed i assume? Get better soon bud . On a brighter note...If it had to, at least it happened in the winter instead of early spring I woke up to a little snow here this morning.

Hand is about the same. My arm actually hurts worse than my hand now from keeping it elevated all the time. I'll be one-handed for quite some time I guess.
We had about 10mins of really light snow here one night. I still miss riding though. Even more so now that I can't do anything. I did move some furniture with one hand yesterday. That was fun, but at least I wasn't bored.

Thanks for asking. Just got back from the orthopedic specialist a few minutes ago. They took more xrays and told me it's still in place and looking OK so theres no need for any special treatment at this point. I can quit elevating my hand unless swelling comes back (that's awesome 'cause man in my shoulder sore from being in 1 position all the time). Gotta go back on New Year's Eve for what they're hoping is my last appointment. They said I might be pretty much healed by then because the bones in the hand get a good supply of blood to help them heal faster. It prob won't be 100% but maybe I can get rid of the splint and stuff. Otherwise, the road rash will be a little time to heal all the way. It's no big deal though.
No scooter parts or anything. I've got some other stuff to pay for first. I know where the guys bought the hay from, and talked to the business owner. He said they paid cash and he's not sure of their names, but hopefully he'll see them again. I'm not looking for anything crazy, but it would be nice to get some help from their insurance company with deductibles and damages considering the accident was due to their negligence. I really dropped the ball at the scene, but it took a minute to think clearly.
Dad and I will probably both be a bit nervous getting back on when e get straight. lol My crash worried him more too because he sees how things happen beyond your control sometimes. I have no plans to give it up though. I rode 7,000+ miles in the last 8 months on T2 and the Sunl. I don't know what to do with myself without being able to get a ride in.

The hand is getting better. Not great, but better. Less than a week before my next xrays and hopefully I'll be able to get my hand out of this stuff. It definitely feels like it'll be a bit before I can really use it though. Thanks for asking.

Aw man I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. Shows you that the most dangerous thing about a motorcycle really is the other drivers. I've always been told that. Got to keep your guard up. Just unfortunate that you had no escape.
I feel like such a jerk for asking you so many long winded questions on here now. You just have a lot of valuable insight into the world of scooters. I want to know what you know -- You're like a 50cc two stroke scooter encyclopedia.
I just noticed that we live somewhat close to each other. Something like 100 miles. Too bad its 153 miles by land since I can't just hop over the bay. I live about 15 miles out of Fredericksburg, VA. Small world.
Hope your hand gets better soon, man.

Yeah, other driver's will get ya from time to time. That's why I don't believe the folks that say a good rider will never have a wreck. If you ride a 50cc scoot in areas where you have to be on the shoulder you're even more at risk. Kinda can't keep people from passing you and dropping things unless you've got one badass scoot... and if you drive that fast all the time the cops will get you if something else doesn't. I rode 7,000 over about 7 months that I had scooters going and wasn't hurt. I'm very used to the local traffic and situations, but I just don't see how you can see that one coming. I guess a good rider would stay home if they only had a 50? Don't worry about the questions. If I didn't wanna answer them, I wouldn't. ;D My friend with the orange CBR600RR came over today and taunted me because it was up to 50 degrees today and nice riding weather. Real nice. Thanks a bunch. lol

Glad your getting healed up . Yea, i dont really see how you would have avoided that accident. Well unless you just "BAILED" (get it? haha). Even then it still would have been nasty . Your friend sounds like some of my friends. Come over and poke at ya while yer down lol. All in good fun though . I guess if ya had to wreck this is the best time of year to do it .
