Now that it's cured over night and the color settled in, I think it's not too bright as I thought last night. The rims will be red, the wire mesh behind the front grill will be red and I plan on fitting a red velocity stack into the airbox cover, everything else is black, should look pretty sharp.

2 coats primer, wet sanded 600 grit between each, 3 coats of color, wet sanded 1000 grit between each. Got the knee shield and cowl wet sanded and ready for 2nd color coat, front cover and lower left skirt are on order, but after a seven day cure I can get the handlebar cover and instruments back together and see if I have enough clearance for an LED headlight upgrade, otherwise, there's absolutely no sign of heat damage to the OEM reflector from the 35 watt bulbs, I might try upping to 55 watt and see if it melts if nothing else. I also have a set of 18 watt LED driving lights if nothing else I think I've got the clearance to mount them to the top of the front tubes

The knee shield had a separate black plastic pamel, oxidized to hell, was going to replace it, decided to paint it red to pull the rim color to the center a bit for balance.

While everything sets for a full week cure, I got the rear bearing popped out, I'll get that locally at a machine shop, common bearing, and I need to address the exhaust.
The stock muffler sucks, it's restrictive and contributing to the lean condition I'm sure and it sounds like crud, unfortunately the header pipe is 1 1/8" diameter, trouble is the muffler I'm looking at has bushings to take it down to 1 3/8" so I'll have to figure something there. Another option is to have something welded to the header pipe, or maybe even have a larger pipe made. First thing I need to do is remove it and see if the exhaust stud jusr fell out or snapped off I guess.
On the intake side, still not sure on the air box. Shouldn;t be too hard to fabricate an extension for the stock air tube and stick something on the end of it to open up the lungs as best possible. Think IceBear style.
White walls are a strike out, smallest I can find for the rear is a 150/80-16, I take a 140/70-16, I'll double check clearances with the stock size when I get it back on but I'm thinking no. Option two is paint...

I'm liking what I'm seeing with the new paint job. Looking forward to finding out how it looks when complete.

So, we got the new bearing installed in the swingarm, a 6204-2RS, here's a hint, it's a standard bearing, Kymco's is $21 plus shipping, it's a one year warranty bearing. O Reilly sells a parts master with a one year warranty for $5.99, I won't have this scooter beyond next season. What do you think, black or red on the calipers? Pretty sure I need to black out all the exposed parts of the engine too.

What do you think, black or red on the calipers? When in doubt, black it out. Red seems to be the standard "performance" look for calipers, but black may look better against a red wheel IMO. If you wanted something real slick, you could do the caliper black and the raised logo red (or vice versa). I think most just use a sponge with paint on it to paint the raised stuff. You've made good choices so far though, so I'm sure whatever you decide on will look nice.

Paint sponge for raised areas, a syringe with a blunt needle works wonders for inverted lettering etc.

As a side note, I looked at the manual twice last night, the caliper on the rear is not the correct caliper for the S250, somewhere along the line a caliper from what I believe is a Exciting 300i got installed.
