Turn signals arrived today, so I started work on them, with a complete disassembly and paint to match the scooter. Considered red, decided against it for safety reasons, might make someone think they saw a blinker on or something. I also need to convert them to a bulb that's readily available in the US or LED, but they'll look good once done and mounted.

Your build is really looking great! That bulb look like the bulb they use in the rear running light on boats. It might be more common than you think.

it's a dual element, BAY15D, just under 1.375" long, everything at the stores is much longer and there's essentially zero clearance in the housinf for a longer bulb. I had the same problem with the cheapo turn signals I used on my old 50cc, the bases are standard, the bulb form factor is not. I knew that pretty much when I ordered them and planned on modding them from the start.

Gotcha; I didn't know they were dual element. Bummer!

had the same problem with the cheapo lights on my old 50cc, it had BA15 standard base, non-standard bulb, I found them online by the 10 pack and salaged everyone I could from old parts scoots.

So I got three coats on the lights, baked at 200 degrees for a half hour, came out very nice as far as I'm concerned. For now, I'll wire them up with both filaments together, be a simple matter even after installation to swap out the bulb for whatever, they mount to an adapter on the handle bar cover, metal bracket that bolts to the plastic. The integral headlights in the front cover didn't pass DOT muster, the bracket and over priced retro style lights was their answer.

Parts are starting to find their way home as much as possible. I'm going to pull the valve cover and recheck the clearances and install a new plug but that's it until after Christmas.

That's looking quite nice! Whatever you do, don't stop. There are more half-done scoots in garages than I can imagine.

Not much chance of that happening with this bike, I'm looking for a 150 chuckus cheap for that role ")
Although now that I'm virtually in extended staring mode, I am going to pull that red center console piece and turn it black, it's just too much now that it's on the bike especially when I add the red side vents. I am however considering a red seat, the rear body is a lot of black even with the luggage rack red, thinking it would actually be the perfect touch, but, not sure what the cost of a re-cover would be locally, and I can;t seem to find much on the net in the lines of those spray can dyes, they say leather, vinyl and fabric but...

went with black on the center trim, might even replace it with new trim, but I like it better black either way

So today, after staring at things, I pretty much decided the semi-gloss black had too much gloss, so I went to my favorite hardware store and came back with Rustoleum "Canyon Black" in satin, after a few test sprays, I'm happy with it, definitely black and has a nice sheen with fairly diffuse reflection whereas with the satin black you can discern objects reflected.
So, we'll be pulling everything off, wet sanding with 1000 and giving her a couple coats of the satin. However, prior to that, I'm going to rig up some kind of spray tent to control the dust for the best finish, and I'm considering building an "oven" with a dozen light bulbs for heat to bake them.

Not sure how well you can discern it from the photo, but the panel on the left is the satin, the panel on the right is the semi-gloss. The satin lays down better too.

I like satin. There's a few paints called "bumper coat" or "trim black" at Auto body supply stores that look good and lay down well. I use em at work, they tend to match car dash bezels well.
