I snuck over to the Aprilla forum and looked at this super hi-tech machine,,looks like an injector in the head(air) and one in the throttle body(fuel)? Then I hopped to the 70cc BB link and was startled to see a finned ECU that went with the kit.WOW!is it for emissions or is it just engineers gone wild?A 2 stroke is such a simple machine with very few moving parts,,do we need all this extra stuff?Took me a while to see the benefits of EFI on cars, but now I'd never look back, perhaps this is the future 2 stroke??? I hope there is a future in two strokes . The fuel injector and the air-pump injector are both in an asembly on the head. The throttle body just houses the throttle positioning sensor. Im still learning but they seem to be the most efficient 2T,s i know of. Here is one running w/out the throttle body hooked up. I think this guy did it just to prove a point, he has built and "played" with allot of ditechs www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXhsYzZxvTIHeres a port injected build of his www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7khtJPQjlY

That is one sweet scoot in the last vid. I like seeing really nice scoots that aren't from overseas for a change. I crash too much to build anything that nice.

IM still not %100 sure about that myself lol. I do know it is driven off of the crank. It has a rollor tip on it similar to a rollor lifter. With every turn of the crank the pump pulses air through the injection system. I guess to aid in fuel delivery to the combustion chamber.?. I will see what i can dig up.

Looks like i posted my Aprilia in the right place, build section and all. After taking a closer look at the cvt system to try and diagnose the noise coming from the torque driver area i found some bad news . I thought i had a bit of play in the crank when i pried the vari off from being installed incorrectly. After checking again, there is play in the crank bearings . Its not real bad, like Skeedr was(just a little) but any play at all in the crank isnt good. The seals seem to be fine. I havent performed a leak test but it does idle and run pretty good. The noise is in the TD for sure. I fired it up w/out the belt and the noise was gone. The noisy TD is the least of my worries now. Im not sure what im gonna do yet?

I noticed the word 'orbital" in the thread about your engine.Didnt Bombardier design a direct injection system with that name for their jetski and snowmobile engines?Bet its the same stuff, wonder how the crank gets lube?? If you dont have a case leak,a bit of crank slop should be OK for a while.Does she have a catalytic converter and O2 sensor?

There is an oil injection line into the intake for lube. As for the crank bearings, my first thought was to get ALL the good out of em. Try and see if i can get another summer out of em. With my luck and bottom ends, ide hate to trash the whole thing
