Been poking away at this project,ryan_ott sent me a SSS pipe to mod for it,(THANKS Ryan!!),turns out that pipe is an ideal size for a 100,the headpipe was stupid short making all the dimensions skewed..A 250mm header was the desired length and all the rest of the dimensions fell into place!I built up a new tapered headpipe from a mandrel bent length of header tube(details here; 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/10395/stroke-pipe-building-information?page=2 ).Then it was a matter of fitting 10 lbs of sh*t in a 5 lb bag..The Honda platform is a super small machine,so a fat pipe is a challenge to fit, will build the Penton style silencer on the end.. To be continued...

I'm glad to see you're dabbling in the dark side 190. lol. I've been following this like everyone else. you're doing some awesome work and documentation on the dio engine. have you found any crossover parts yet, like we talked about? is the next build yamahonda? I know this is getting up there in CCs but I have to ask, why is your pipe so fat and stubby? lol I know you like function over form but? being the exhaust guru, id love to see this thing with dual pipes. preferably 1 on each side!!! but shotgun pipes would look pretty cool too... would that work? could that work? it seems to me on a big cc small frame machine, duals would be the better(and cooler looking) JK, way to go. especially with the penton silencer. that can looks so top heavy. its gonna need a kickstand too. lol had to ask, anyways, I like all of your machining documentation. and it makes me wonder how the hell is everyone building these with a drum sander and a harbor freight tool set? trying to find specialty shop like from machining to vinyl wrapping to do any work or even take you serious is next to impossible. I've had la sleeve try to tell me "its not worth it, to almost a dozen wrappers stop responding when they hear what I'm trying to get done. with the money in my pocket telling them that I know and understand that it'll be a couple 100. with all that said, keep up the lords work. you gotta post some videos when its running. if you don't like the dual pipe idea, can you build me one? and when can we start sending you our cases for machine work? lol that reminds me, I gotta go bug pitobread about a hub....

harleyracer59 That’s a great idea, but you have to admit that fat pipe looks pretty sick! Toomey racing (ya know the company that makes pipes for a Banshee) has a slip-on pipe/silencer I’m pretty sure, that’s a shotgun style. It’s made for the 87-92 YSR 50s. I’ve heard them on a YSR before and they look AND sound awesome. I too am following this one. I’ve always wondered about these Honda AF engines and how they handle case porting for these massive bbk kits all these companies make for them.

Hey harley, That pipe is longer than the China pipe you have on your blue scoot, the built in muffler makes it look stubby..Ive seen twin cylinder 2 strokes with a common expansion chamber, but never the other way around, all the dimensions of a pipe are critical for best tuning,so a split pipe would be twice the effort with less performance!Dig around on the web and find A Graham Bell's book called 2 stroke performance tuning,it has a good chapter on pipe work..Its a bit dated, but a very good read!!

I was kinda thinking of 2 different sized chambers joined to widen the power band? like a slippy pipe but with no slippy. though the 2 pulses would probably hinder performance instead. but to quote a friend " sex sells" and I think it would look damn sexy i'm sure it'll look more proportioned once its in the frame with plastics installed. it just looked huge in your pics by itself. I almost made the joke it was standard white boy issued, it'll scrape the sides but it ain't looking for length or distance.... and ive read grahams book on pipes. you told me about it before and I hate reading without pictures but I respect your information and knowledge. so I read it twice. it gets a bit confusing with all the different parameters and equations having to jive for an end result.

Hey harley, The Penton 125 used a super long muffler as it was an up pipe, had a proper length stinger in the muffler cavity also, they were so quiet, all you could hear was the rings rattleing in the huge finned cylinder when they rushed by me on a woods trail! The 175's were even quieter(and faster) than the 125 due to a perforated stinger and fiberglass packing...No set equations for mufflers except the bigger the better,as volume allows the gasses to cool and slow down before they exit into the atmosphere..We are challenged with lack of build length on scoots due to its overall design,so I just make the 'can' the same diameter as the belly and hope for the best, stinger is a very short "nozzle" design of later pipe tech to keep it in a smaller package also.. I remember that dual Technigas pipe, what a cluster-f***!Some experimental racing cylinders have used dual opposed exhaust ports that needed 2 expansion chambers,to me thats twice the work!It takes me around 25 hours of my life to build a pipe,so it'd be 50 for 2!!At my age it isnt an option to go there... Here is an ebay link of Penton exhaust stuff; www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=penton+125+exhaust&_sacat=0
