You are finding out why an Engineer spends so much of his/her time with make/buy decisions and just sourcing parts. Just when you think you have found the right part it has gone out of production....... AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

the stainless round turned out ok. finally decided on a stepless bit - from HF - $8.99 did a stainless test piece 1st - thank the search and drill bit gods - it works great - got the hole I wanted , sized up, so it tightens up - broke out the mini lathe - used a file and some emory cloth glued it on with the clear weld now I just need to find a rubber buton or whatever to fit into the 17.4 mm hole. I'm thinking a 16-17 mm id will work . I see these -says there plastic tho -
I'd druther rubber will call them tomorrow . I'm either the worst searcher or google, ama. , ebay totally suck .

Man, wow. look what I found- free of charge - they'll send a sample - www.caplugs.com/ergonomic-button-plugs-bpfe ordered 2 diff sizes close together - I love the web soo much . Oh , wait , no I don't ; but sometimes it works ok. actually I shouldn't complain too much given everything I accomplish over the web .

the sample rubber plugs came . real beauties , works perfect. but dang it , the black rubs off on my hands , real dusty and a bit of red rust is showing up ; even if I oil them or lube them . I'll try some lithium grease . should hold it off for a while
