I just read the post I made. I forgot to mention that you are interested in the measurement at the skirt. The crown will be tighter & throw your measurements off. That why I leave the gauge at the bottom of the exhaust port. That way the piston crown wont hit it. I been building engines longer than I care to remember. I have seen this done many different ways, by many different mechanics. There is a touch and feel to it, Its hard to explain. I think after you try it, you will agree. Thanks for the added details, it really helps to be able to check stuff like this. I definitely don't want to end up like you mentioned. I should have the proper feeler gauges by the Monday to find out what my clearance is. I finally found some solder that would work to check the squish. I came up with .81mm with the base gasket that came with the kit, and 1.12mm with a base gasket I made from some thicker stuff. I did not put the O ring gasket on the head when I checked the squish, I was afraid I would mess it up. I also assembled a clutch to use with this build since I had a little help today. I went with a 1500 contra spring, and 1500 clutch springs. I want this scoot to have a better takeoff, :wheelie: than a top end, and I don't do much WOT around here. I am a phat boy @ 300lbs + at the moment. I also want to use a LeoVince GP pipe for this scoot, but I gotta save some $ first, and find one cheap.

.81mm would have been enough squish clearance. Not sure what compression is like on these though.

I just finished putting on a GP. It is a nice option. It is also teamed up with a streetrace. Attachments:

Looks good! I love a good tuned expansion chamber, but for a really nice looking exhaust that will match up well with most any "sport" series cylinders you just cant go wrong with the GP. Love the stainless!

Here is a short clip of me using a .002 to check the piston to cylinder clearance. Not sure I got the technique right. It seems to take around 4lbs of force to pull it out. The .003 gauge has not been shipped yet.

Take a pic of the Cross Hatch. I thought it mine, was on the coarse side. I could not get the .002 gauge, to fit. Yours looks much better. I honed mine with a finer 240 Grit Flex Hone. Too get to the .002 p/w Clearence.
There is another Case of 4 cornering a S/R, on Zumaforums.

It came up to .95 I also set up for a leakdown test, and it failed, but I have not yet looked for the leak. Tomorrow is another day.

So I am struggling with this leak-down test. I know it is leaking somewhere because it leaks down from 5-6psi to 0psi in about 3-4 min. I just have not been able to find a leak with the bubbles. I also found out that the nice aluminum HOCA intake I bought to use will NOT work very good because of the vacuum nipple that is on the engine case very close to the intake. I have a nearly new stock style , that I will just put on, and recheck it.

What type of sealant should I be using on the intake? Black RTV, says best not to use with gasoline. Blue gasket maker, or the grey stuff?

If you dont have a crank seal leak, its likely the intake area.I like the ultra gray, but others swear by the Yamabond on the intake cause they tend to leak badly!

I use Ultra Black on the intakes when I don't use ThreeBond. Ultra Black works, not sure what it says on the package, but it works. ThreeBond is just tough to get apart and clean up in comparison, but it seals great. I'm sure Ultra Gray is good as well if John is using it.

I just OCD over stuff needlessly.
