Adjusting the needle did not help, tried all positions.

I just put a 47mm on mine and it does the same thing too. I have had this happen before with other scooters. The problem is the main jet. You need to go up or down a jet size. I am going to start going 1 size down to start. If I am wrong I will go 1 size above the current jet.

I took out my 49/17 because it lowered my rpm too much. I was running a 47mm and a A9 cam. Switched to 11.05 Final gear ratio Primary 52/16 and secondary 51/15 and I am much happier with the results. Check your ratio before you switch. Stock can be 11:1 13:1 and just picked up a scoot that has 15.25:1 The 49/17 put me at 9:1 and I felt that a 47mm is too light to push that.

I have 2 scoots that had the 44mm come stock. The stock 44mm comes with a different head that is cut deeper to give it more volume. The stock 39mm heads are flat. I do not know how they run as I switched them to 47mm kits but I did use the 44mm head still that keeps the compression down some to save the crank from going bad.

I recently installed a cheap Chinese kit that came with a head. You you guys talk about break in miles, is that the china mile or actual miles. I am at 100 China miles right now and need to know so I can tune my main jet. I am starting with a 98mj and 34 pilot pod filter and a A9 cam.

It is perfectly normal for a new build to run hot. But it is really bad to allow a new build to run lean during break in. That said, you MUST prevent the engine from overheating during break in. That means NOT riding it far for the first 20 miles. Like as in down the block and back home to let it cool down. And incrementally increase the distance as the miles build up. The first 100 miles are SUPER critical but brak in will last for at least 500 miles IMO. I have like 5000 miles on my 100cc Big Bore build with cam and big valve head and I've run it full throttle more than a few times for miles on end. I think the key is a proper break in...and some luck with good parts. If you push your motor hard during break in you'll likely accelerate wear to the rings, piston and cylinder walls. 82 main jet sounds too small. Can't remember exactly but I think I'm running an 90 MJ with my 100cc build. I clearly remember it running very hot at first. Even jetted properly. The parts are tight. The biggest mistake (I think) people make is just treating it like a normal motor even when it's brand new. Some people even say to run it hard brand new. I disagree. Some people also get seized motors and permanent damage from the heat.

I have a 3 wire tach +/- and trigger wire. I hooked it up to the coil and it is going crazy. Did I hook it up right or does it go to the trigger wire off of the flywheel. I hooked up the pos and neg direct to the battery for now. I may just have a cheap broken tach. Let me know please.
Going on a qmb139 so I can tune a 47mm kit

I always put the piston at the top of the stroke and do not try to adjust the crank at all. Leave the crank wherever it wants to sit then I set the cam. I do not look at the flywheel at all and this has worked well for me every time. I have never seen the timing marks on the flywheel line up. Just my thoughts but it has worked for me.

Just a word about gears, I have been looking into them a lot lately. You can have 2 different stock sizes which changes your final gear set when you upgrade.
Stock primary set 53/15 and secondary 52/14 will give a final of 13.124
stock primary 52/16 and secondary 51/15 gives a final of 11.05
primary 53/15 and secondary 49/17 is a final 10.184
Primary 52/16 and secondary of 49/17 is a final 9.37
So check your Primary gears before you order secondary gears, I have all 4 combinations.
With the common 49/17 secondary gears and the 52/16 secondary which is very common your final is 9.37 which is too low for the 47mm kit as I had it set up. The best I had was 46mph. If you use the 53/15 primary and 49/17 secondary you get 10.184 final I might try that combo next but I switched to 11.05 right now.
I see a bunch of chat on gears so I just wanted to put it out there.

I use a long hose and just let it vent out by the brake light. No oil ever gets past a few inches of the valve cover. Juts keep the hose high.

If you remove the rear brakes you should be able to get the 10" wheel in, not sure how you are going to get rear disc on. Time to be creative. The 13:1 ratio or higher if you can find it is best for the low end.

Look for another cheap or free scoot without a title and use it for parts, I have 4 for parts. It is a hobby to switch them around like this. It is sometime like starting over again with too many changes. Good thing is when you learn what parts are really beneficial. for a good build I like a 47mm kit, A9 cam, free ignition mod (timing advance), spring changes on the clutch. Everything else stock except properly tuned carb and cvt.

I wanted to see the ride difference with the 12" wheels, more rubber to the road. I might switch the front wheel too. I am sticking with a 47mm kit so I have the 49/17 secondary gears now and I think that it is too much, I am going back to stock. I have 3 different gear ratios sets about 9:1 11:1 and 13:1 the 49/17 is the 9:1 and I am switching to 11:1 and 12" rear tire. I think I will be faster with better take off in my new set up. Other considerations I am doing is a carb from a 150cc, larger header pipe and I have a stock 60cc head vs stock 49cc head. Aa9 cam going back in too.
