Fuel. Is the gas you put in known to be good? I've experienced similar symptoms with bad gas or a very heavy oil ratio (if your running pre-mix)

Thanks for the input from everyone! I have no preference long or short case, just want something I can tear down, and modify myself. Before I can justify buying one I need to donate to this forum, it's been an invaluable tool & really got me interested in small engines.

Hey, I'm simply asking for opinions on what a reasonable price to pay for a 90cc minarelli style engine would be?
Talking used, running engine. I see 2 from atvs, one $200 shipped on the bay. Another with electronics and carb- bidding starts at $70 (or buy it now for $115) + 96.78 shipping. Are the sellers asking too much?
I believe the 1 source for them new still has customers waiting and waiting?
Just want one in the future to build up. No idea yet what it could end up in (unicycle?)

Stupid question, can I tune a two stroke with a wideband? I have an innovate motorsports LC1 buried somewhere. Will the oil cause any issues with the sensor? Also what kind of numbers are safe under part throttle cruise, and WOT?

Yes, I'll try upjetting just to see the effects. But some tweaking of the mixture screw and it's running pretty well. It sounds a lot healthier than the worn set-up. This site has been an immense help with this 40qmb, thanks guys

Well, had been hearing some piston slap, I checked my ring end gap, they were "Yuuuge!" Compression was also pretty low. So, instead of sticking with the 49, I'm now at 72cc. It was a very cheap $42 kit from ebay. The transfers needed some "smoothing" they had a lot of casting flash in them. Oddly, the ring end gaps were nearly dead on. This thing will now do wheelies! Port durations are at 186 and 124, squish is .7 running the O-ring head gasket. Still eyeballing pipes, hoping to peak around 9-9.5k. Will also play with roller weights after the pipe. Surprisingly, no jet changes appear to be needed, at this time. Yet I have no idea what size jet is in my carb, there are no makings on it. All I know is the plug looks great, I hear no detonation.

62 sounds way too small for the engine's demands! As suggested to me before, try ~100 and tune from there.

As suggested by 90gtvert ive triple checked my durations, well, more than triple...
My *official* numbers are
156° exhaust 135° transfer
Squish clearance as checked by some folded over solder is .8
Im tempted to try raising the exhaust port a bit, while still retaining it's shape. Maybe try ~180° Any thoughts on that?

I've never had luck with easy outs. I would try the welding a nut method, short of taking it to a machine shop.

I know it doesnt sound too promising, this is exactly what I did in a turbine housing. I snapped the bolt, then snapped an easy out in it. It got it out. Maybe just luck

Know anybody near you that is handy with a MIG? Weld a nut through it's center onto that broken fastener. The heat will help a lot, a turn of the welded nut and it should come right out.

Hey, here we go again with an atv. It's an AlphaSports LG 150 gy6. After going through some wiring we got spark. The carb was full of crap, looked like saw dust, cleaned it spotless and got it running.
While accelerating, maybe 1/2 throttle and up, you experience a pronounced "jerk" sensation, let off the throttle and you're fine. If you stay in the throttle, it will jerk once, smooth out and repeat. Other than that It behaves pretty well. Im not sure weather to start looking at a fueling issue or maybe cvt related?
Any input?
Just realized I posted in the wrong area doh!

Thank you for the reply! The plug was well used, and when pulled was nearly white and dry. Right, without a temp sensor im probably just being paranoid. The gas we mixed with was also fueling a 150 gy6 with no issue. On a side note I pulled the carb, found it's vent hose was MIA and a bunch of dirt was clogging the vent's barb. Could something so simple be the culprit? As of now it seems to running fine.

Looking for some advice here. Dinli atv with 1e40qmb Ran fine all day. THEN,topped off the gas tank with the usual 40:1 premix. It ran for about 40 seconds and began stumbling with any throttle input. I pulled the plug and it was dry and obviously was seeing a lean mixture. Noticed the head and cyl seemed very hot after such a short run time. I then put a new plug in it, and its running again but was ideling poorly, wanting to stall. I had to turn the mixture screw nearly all the way out to get a decent idle. (Carb is the typical slide type like in GTVert's carb videos)
Any input of where to start? Im lost because the first issue conflicts with the second I beleive. After the initial hiccups, I let it cool and it behaved well for a very quick test ride.
The carb was cleaned about a week ago, the fuel cap does indeed vent, running a manual shutoff, and 1/4" hoses.
My first thought is to check the fuel hoses for signs of deterioration, and once again tear down and clean the carb...
Long winded yes, trying my best to explain the situation.

Thanks for the help vert. Ryan, its for my daughter's Dinli Dino 50. I was just eyeballing this, would need a silencer added of course The link you posted looks promising too, these lengths look pretty long, I -might- have to put the silencer 90° from the expansion chamber to avoid having it sticking out ridiculously far. Like so
