Well everyone meet Oliver. My latest steal deal. Yes I only paid $45 for it. Only had 850 miles on the clock. And after putting a carb, battery and fuel cock on, he roared to life. And lucky enough I had everything here already. M14 manual fuel cock and the TK Japan carb from Becky(with a 80 main). But it wouldn't be one of my bikes if there wasn't a few kinks. The oil pump line is busted all to crap, not sure if the pump works but for now I'm running premix. And had one of the clutch arms bust at the pin. Since I have a newer (broke the same way 112mm clutch) I replaced the busted arm with a good one and for "why the hell not" I drilled a hole in the arms in the spring pocket and put my black spings the Malossi Malossi Malossi Malossi Touring springs. Still using the stock contra and 15x12 vari with a mix of 5.8 + 6.3 gram rollers. So far the fastest I've seen on GPS is 38. Speedo pointed at 40. I have seen the speedo pin on 42. So I assuming 40 is top speed, for now😈. Now I've got a plan for a budget 50 mph build. Now with the CPI being a 12/16 mm crank I can't use the MultiVar I have on Becky, but everything else could be used if need be. But here's the plan, ported Polini Sport kit I bought from Ryan Ott, with a new 12mm pin polini piston (sourced from overseas), reuse the stock CPI catless pipe,(temporary until I can find a nice straight flange chamber pipe), Hoca/SSP-G 97mm 16x13 variator and a Malossi White or Yellow Contra. And if its needed I have the Sport Pro intake, reeds and CP21 carb. But I think the TK will work with the right jetting. I also intend on running stock 13.52 gears for now. Maybe he will wheelie that way. I already know that speed will be limited that way to about 50 max but good for a start. The budget part comes in here, the only parts that I have to buy is the new piston set=$80, Hoca Vari=$60 shipped and the yellow malossi contra if I were to need it. I also plan on putting a tach/temp gauge on before the 68 kit goes on, which is 80 the last time I looked at it on eBay. Total is $240.

I had a new CPI Oliver City 50 about 10 years ago. It was restricted in the CVT and the main jet. With some CVT tuning, enlarging the airbox intake and proper rejetting it would hit an honest 45 mph. Never bothered to put a pipe or BBK on it, it was a blast with just a mild tune.
Used a CHT gauge to help with the carb tuning.

I believe the restricted main jet. The factory mikuni had a 57.5 marked jet. I'm currently running a 80 polini jet and it runs pretty good. Need to make a plug reading to verify

Great find. It should be a good little project for not a lot of money.

I was just looking at classifieds for no reason the other day. Hate to miss a deal like that on basically a Triton with a different front plastic, but I'm glad you grabbed it. I think that's the best deal I've ever seen on a scooter, aside from a freebie.

And just so happens there is another one, believe it's also a Oliver,in Dover for $65. Seen it on marketplace right after i got this one. And right now I'm in the market for one with a title.

Gonna have to swap the whole TD from Becky. Done busted another oe clutch shoe. Its Kind of a upgrade. Stock clutch with malossi white contra and malossi sport level clutch springs. Should engage tween 5k and 5500. And weights should be pretty close(5.8/6.3 staggered) with the stiffer contra.

Did a little belt measuring with a seamstress tape on the outside of the belt. Both belts are 788 17 28. The universal parts vs belt is 796mm and the bando vs is 806 or 807. I have pictures but they are not wanting to upload right now. Just thought this was a interesting tidbit

Found this pic. My son was riding this when he was 16. You can see the red 3-way adjustable rear shock. The seat height was just a tad tall for him, so I replaced the 280mm stock shock with a 240mm one so that he could reach the ground more comfortably. Kept that CPI Oliver City shock around for about 10 years and it finally found a home in my recently purchased 2010 SYM Mio 50 (conveniently both are 280mm.)

Well after finding a 2mm thick shim on the ground and opening it up to fit the 16mm shaft(it was 14 something, think it's from a 139qmb), I'm know at 3mm from 1 and the belt is all the way at the top of the TD. I've also dropped from 5.8/6.3 weight to 4.8/5.8 weight(6.05 to 5.3g). Seems to be much happier on the stand at least.
Oh and I've took the snorkel out of the air box as well.
Edit. PO has seemed to have worn out the estart. It slows to to halt while cranking and getting hot. Although sitting in the sun all day probably isn't helping anything. Wait go pull plug..... ok did that and the jug isn't filled with fuel. Although 80 is too rich. The plug was boot black. I've put another plug in, but it's a heat range colder,BR8HS. Think it's just going to be worst but it's the newest plug I have on hand.

My hand written notes from my tinkering on Oliver today. Cause I'm too lazy to type it all out again.

Been a while but just checked out oliver, and verdict is it needs crank bearings and or a cylinder. Even with the starter clutch off it don't spin over by hand

Oh dear. I guess it's time to pull it apart and see what the damage is.
