Get a straight groove TD Makes a huge change Straight drive 122mm TD in my parts box ready to install, with rear pulley spacer. Just only 1 belt at 796 and not willing to do that much changing at once

I need to drop weight in vari again. But engagement is at 6500 to 6750. But it's also wanting to shift at 6500. Need shift at like 9000 or so.
go lighter on the variator weights.

Well I'm fully impressed. It was 27°F this morning and Ollie fired right up, choked and 2 kicks. Seems my tuning skills are getting better. Also have a 5.17g ave weight set fitting to be installed and plan to give the clutch another "notch" on tension.

Belt travel so far is amazing. 2mm left at both 7 and 6g. 1st black is 7g blue and green are 6g.Just loaded the vari with 5.17g average. Still using the white Malossi contra. Oh I was at 1.2mm shimming and now at 1.4mm

Uses a lot of travel that’s good

This weight (5.17 ave) and 1 turn tighter on clutch. 7000 ish engagement 8700 shift. And I must have been misreading the bar tach before by a bar or 2. Cause I don't think .85g would be 2000 rpm, would it?

Next step should probably be try the yellow Malossi contra next. I noticed the glazing on the vari earlier, think the belt may be slipping a little bit

That is really close to perfect on variator Fix the belt slip withe te yellow pring I bet yellow contra and 6 grams will max you out on the variator and get at 8800-9200 rpms for shifting

Although may need a bit higher based on my timing. Which is approximately 196/132. Which should produce peaks in the 10k to 10500 range. But my pipe might be a limiting factor (Yasuni R) oh and stock ignition timing I feel is keeping me down in the rev range

I do have a question for you more knowledgeable guys. This is my 122mm rear pulley. Which would each set of grooves do for me. The open set seem to be at a lesser angle. Would that give me earlier shift?

Just seen this on the pulley face? Would I be correct in assuming that stands for 36° and 40° grooves?

I would say yes that’s 36 and 40 If I understand correctly the 36 would allow the pulley to close sooner and the 40 would close later

I didnt run the bike very far, maybe 1000ft, just far enough to see where it was shifting at. Belt is riding a lot higher with 1.4mm shim. 1.5 or 1.6 maybe perfect. Trying to have a good baseline tune with the stock rear pulley before I do the 122mm swap.

Every time I take my cover off I consider what would happen if I strip a cover bolt hole. I’m thinking of putting studs in the case and having nuts on the cover side so that if I butcher anything I can simply remove the stud and put in a fresh one.

That is a fully maxed out rear pulley at rest. The Yasuni R runs out of steam for me in that 10000 to 10500 range for my Athena Basic cylinder . The R with certain builds has pushed to closer to 11 k but anything that lives around 11 and above lives in C16 Land . As Far as those slots on Torque driver . The more vertical line upshifts faster the more horizontal upshifts slower . reference snakers quote he explains it better . 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/26237/minarelli-performance-torque-drivers
