Got to go on a super sputtery rich 1/2mi ride. Gotta do some jetting and fix the throttle cable. Also gotta figure out if the exhaust is just that loud or leaking somewhere.
Besides that, it’s gonna be fast!

Pulled the exhaust to see exactly where it’s leaking. It looks like it’s leaking both feom the flange and the exhaust mount despite using a brand new gasket. I could be wrong, because I’m basing this on where the oil appeared and it’s possible it just flowed out after I loosened it. I am running crazy rich.
So, I got some Permatex copper and used it in the flange area, and I’m going to seal the gasket on as well. I figure that that’ll cover any possible leaks.
Tonight, I hope to get the temp and rpm sensors installed and maybe work on the throttle cable a bit more. I’d love it if I could just find some inline adapter to lengthen the sheath. That way, I could take advantage of the adjusters. I hate struggling to get the ferrules into the carb or throttle tube. We will see. I have some time to think while the permatex cures.

So it looks like the Trailtech spark plug temp sensor won’t mount on the Stage 6 MKII Sport Pro cylinder. The spark plug hole is recessed for the plug and squish ring and that prevents the spark plug from fully seating with the sensor installed.
I’d love to find a way to install a temp sensor. Would love that added insurance. Eapecially with the aluminum cylinder.

I’m not sure what thread it was but somebody here had a cylindrical rod temp probe they drilled holes through their fins and epoxied it in. I’m skeptical but it was reading.

Ok. I found out I need to grind a recess for the temp sensor. I can do that.
Current issue is the exhaust is still popping like there is a leak. I fully permatexed every interface, so I need to give it a short ride to see if I can see where its leaking. The oil splatter should show me the way. Surprised, because I thought I did a good job with the permatex.

here is another way to test for exhaust leaks To test if its the exhaust while its running take a gloved hand with a wet cloth if it kils quick the exhaust is sealed up.
If it runs on take some soapy water in a spray bottle and spay the seams by the silencer and by the head pipe .
just like you did as a kid whenyou had a leaky bike tire

I'm trying to find the post so I can show you how it looks. edit: I see you already figured this out 2nd edit: found the pic!

1 step forward, 2 steps back. What I thought was an exhaust leak is actually the sound of the motor through the pod air filter. Started tuning the carb and it accelerates amazing! Then I broke off a jet inside the carb. . Got it out, but I think I need that size. Also lost a damn seat bolt. Took the whole scoot frame off looking for it and never found it. Pulled a floorboard bolt to get it running. Need to hit a hardware store tomorrow. Its jetting is close enough that I know the cvt needs tuning. Need rollers and a spring. But having fun. Well, looking for the seat bolt wasn’t fun, but everything else was.

I was getting very close to perfect on the jetting, then that exhaust leak came back…. It is leaking between the flange and exhaust. Looks like the permatex didn’t hold. I need to figure out how to get this sealed because I can’t jet woth an exhaust leak.

Couldn't you use exhaust assembly paste it it's the joint at the flange?
